Located in rural Upstate New York, Patchwork Potions is rooted in a simple belief: what we put on our skin matters.

I harvest many of the herbs used in my products right here in my own fields and gardens. I carefully choose each herb, harvest it at the proper time, and dry it naturally and thoroughly. Once dried, the herbs are slowly infused into oils over time, allowing the plant's natural qualities to become part of the oil. This slow, traditional process is one of the things that makes my products special.

Why I Choose Tallow

The foundation of many of my products is local, grass-fed beef tallow. I personally select the best pieces of fat and render the tallow myself. I take my time with the process so that I know exactly what is going into the products I make.

Tallow has been used for generations as a traditional skin-conditioning ingredient. I choose it because it is rich, nourishing, and wonderfully suited to skincare.

Tallow has a texture and composition that can feel very natural on the skin. It helps provide moisture and conditioning without leaving the skin feeling overly coated or weighed down. It can be especially comforting for skin that feels dry, rough, or weathered.

Some of the qualities I love about tallow:

• Deeply moisturizing – Tallow helps soften and condition dry-feeling skin and can help leave it feeling smooth and supple.

• Skin-friendly – Tallow contains fatty acids that are similar to some of the lipids naturally found in our skin, making it a wonderful ingredient for rich, nourishing skincare.

• Helps support the skin barrier – A good moisturizer helps reduce the feeling of dryness and supports the skin's natural protective barrier by helping keep moisture from escaping.

• Rich and long-lasting – Tallow makes a beautiful base for balms, salves, lotions, and other products because it creates a rich, protective feel on the skin.

• Simple and traditional – I appreciate knowing where my ingredients come from and being able to make products using time-tested ingredients rather than a long list of unnecessary additives.

From My Fields to Your Skin

I believe there is something special about knowing where your ingredients come from.

When possible, I grow and harvest the herbs myself. I dry them carefully, infuse them slowly into oils, and combine those herbal oils with the tallow I have personally rendered.

There is no rushing the process.

Each batch is made in small quantities, by hand, with care and attention to the ingredients that go into it. I want you to know that when you purchase from Patchwork Potions, you're not buying something made on a factory assembly line. You're receiving a product made by someone who has taken the time to select the ingredients, prepare them properly, and make each batch with care.
